CREATE contributes presentations, workshops, and leadership to premier conferences each year. This is a growing list of conferences in accessibility, disability, and technology most pertinent to CREATE researchers.

ASSETS

The International ACM SIGACCESS Conference on Computers and Accessibility is the premier forum for presenting innovative research on the design and use of assistive technologies by people with disabilities. Held annually in October.

We are gathering information on CREATE papers, presentations, and workshops at this year’s conference.

SIGCHI

The Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) CHI conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems is the leading international conference on Human-Computer Interaction and is well attended by CREATE researchers. Held annually in April.

We’re currently gathering info about CREATE presentations for CHI 2026 in Barcelona, April 13–17.

CSUN

California State University, Northridge’s Center on Disabilities’ annual conference that draws researchers, educators, practitioners, and exhibitors from across the globe. CSUN fosters an environment where knowledge, innovation, and best practices converge to advance the cause of inclusion.

Accessing Higher Ground focuses on the implementation and benefits of accessible media, universal design, and assistive technology in academia, business, and public settings. Topics address legal and policy issues, the creation of accessible media and information resources, and campus accommodations and curriculum accessibility.

ADA State of the Science Research Conference

The ADA National Network provides information, guidance, and training on how to implement the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to assure equality of opportunity, full participation, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency for individuals with disabilities. The network consists of 10 regional ADA Centers that focus on their region’s unique needs. 

American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine

The AACPDM is an Academy of over 1,100 health professionals dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of all individuals with cerebral palsy and other childhood-onset disabilities.

APRIL

The Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living (APRIL) is a national grassroots, disability-led organization that advances the equity of people with disabilities in rural communities through advocacy, collaboration, shared experience, leadership development, education, and training.

APTA Pediatrics PT Conference

The annual conference of the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy (APTA Pediatrics) is where hundreds of pediatric physical therapists and industry partners gather to build community through sharing knowledge, research, resources, and solutions.

COMPASS

Sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Group on Computing and Society (SIGCAS) and the ACM Special Interest Group in Computer Human Interaction (SIGCHI), and inspired by the broad agenda of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, COMPASS is an international forum for the presentation and publication of original research that supports the growth of sustainable societies worldwide, from disciplines including computer and information sciences, social sciences, environmental sciences, and engineering.

Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing

The ACM’s CSCW conference advances research in the design and use of technologies that affect groups, organizations, communities, and networks. Bringing together top researchers and practitioners, CSCW explores the technical, social, material, and theoretical challenges of designing technology to support collaborative work and life activities.

Grace Hopper Celebration 2026

The Grace Hopper Celebration is the world’s largest gathering of women in tech, bringing together thousands of women from across the globe to learn, network, and celebrate their achievements. GHC was created to honor the legacy of computing pioneer Grace Hopper and to amplify the research, career growth, and impact of women in tech.

International Society of Biomechanics

The biennial International Congress on Biomechanics includes scientists from a variety of disciplines including anatomy, physiology, engineering (biomedical, mechanical, mechatronics, etc.), orthopedics, rehabilitation medicine, sports science, sports medicine, ergonomics, electrophysiological kinesiology, and others.
